How we work
AskMaldives publishes to clarify a decision, not to fill a content calendar. Every page has to reduce uncertainty, reveal a meaningful difference, or help someone make a better Maldives decision. Pages that only restate what is already freely available do not get published.
The library is organised around six decision territories. Each one owns a stage of the choice, from understanding the destination to being ready to book.
Articles are written to repeatable formats — Fit Guide, Decision Guide, Trade-Off Review, Resort Comparison, Cost Breakdown, Maldives by Month, Myth vs Reality, Curated Shortlist, Explainer, Area Guide — so a reader who has used one page knows where the conclusion lives on the next.
There is no site-wide ranking of Maldives resorts here and no “ten best” list. A resort that suits a diving trip is the wrong answer for a family with a toddler, and a single ordering cannot express that. Every recommendation states who it is for, and every one states a trade-off. A page that lists only reasons to say yes is an advertisement, and we treat it as a defect.
Editorial
Researches and maintains the AskMaldives decision guides using resort and supplier data, tourism-authority sources and patterns across traveller reviews. The desk does not claim first-hand experience of the resorts it writes about, and says so where it matters.
Destination review
Books Maldives trips for travellers year-round through Skydream Travel Design. Reviews the guides for operational accuracy — transfer timings, board inclusions, taxes and what resorts actually charge on arrival.
Every article carries its author, its reviewer, the date it was published, the date it was last checked and what it is based on. 33 of 33 published pages currently carry a named reviewer.
Some facts go stale faster than others. Taxes, transfer costs, meal-plan inclusions, entry requirements and prices are on a quarterly cycle. Pages about seasons, atolls and traveller fit are reviewed twice a year. The review date on each page is the date a person last checked it, not the date the site was last deployed. The library was last revised on 2026-08-04.
AI assists with research, outlines, drafting, formatting, metadata and finding gaps in the library. It is not used to invent resort details, generate prices or availability, write first-hand reviews, or mass-produce pages. Nothing is published without editorial review, and anything commercially important is fact-checked by a person.
We do not claim to have visited the resorts we write about, and we do not present supplier marketing copy as independent judgement. Where a page draws on resort data, patterns across traveller reviews, or our own analysis, it says which.
Specifics beat superlatives. Island size, reef access, transfer time, how many restaurants, how private the villa actually is, what it costs. Words like “unforgettable”, “breathtaking”, “world-class”, “ultimate escape” carry no information about whether a resort suits you, so our build fails if they appear in a published page. Each article must also demonstrate at least 3 of the quality standards we hold ourselves to — Maldives-specific knowledge, original comparison, traveller-fit guidance, transparent trade-offs, cost context, or expert interpretation among them.
AskMaldives earns accommodation booking commission. No resort can pay for placement, there are no preferred-partner tiers, and commission plays no part in what we recommend or how it is ordered. The full position is on how we recommend.
